Please join us on Saturday April 6, 2024 for the 3rd Annual Live Like Lou 5K Run/Walk! The event is being brought to you by Phi Delta Theta fraternity (Kent State University) to raise funds and awareness for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Last year, Phi Delta Theta raised well over $6,000 for ALS awareness and research and we appreciate all the support from runners, sponsors, and volunteers. The event is open to the general public and everyone is welcome to join the fun!
ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord that results in the wasting away of muscle, loss of movement and eventual paralysis. There are an estimated 30,000 people living with ALS in the United States at any given time. Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with ALS. About 90% of all ALS cases are sporadic with no known history of the disease in a family.
START/FINISHThe race will start and finish in at Risman Plaza at the Kent Student Center using the proposed course map shown below. The official start time will be 12pm. There will be one water station located near the midpoint and light snacks and bottled water will be provided to runners at the finish line.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUPOnline registration will remain open right up until the start of the race. Packet pickup will take place in Risman Plaza from 10:00am right up until the start of the race at 12:00pm. You can register as an individual participant and run the entire 5K distance or get some friends (5 max per team) and run it as a relay race passing a timing baton between team members until the last team member crosses the finish line.
$20 through April 6th ($25 on race day)OPTION 1: INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANT
You will run or walk the entire 5K course from start to finish!
OPTION 2: RELAY TEAM
Team members (5 max) will split up the 5K distance however they wish. Each will carry and pass a timing baton to other team members until the last team member crosses the finish line with the baton.
RELAY TEAM INSTRUCTIONS
>You get to choose how many people are on your team (5 people max per team)
>Register individually and create your own unique team name
>Invite up to 4 friends to join your relay team using the same unique team name
>Team members will have the option to join your team from a dropdown menu when they register
>Your team chooses the relay transfer points along the 5K course.
>All team members will be assigned the team finish time at the end of the race!
POST RACE CELEBRATION
Run or walk the 5K in support of ALS and then stick around to cheer on your friends and celebrate your accomplishment! There will be post race giveaways from Red Bull and realm Smoothies, awards for the fastest runners, and KSU fraternity and sorority members will be recognized for their participation!PARKINGThere will be plenty of parking available at the KSU Student Center!AGE GROUPS & AWARDSHand crafted trophies plus $50 Visa gift cards will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female finishers. Professional timing and finish line services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing is being donated by Race Management Solutions (The Beatty Family). Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
